Mashauri Social Center is a community based organization in Bungoma County western part of kenya. Every day, we meet people whose lives remind us why this work matters—teenage mothers trying to raise children without support, widows struggling to put food on the table, people living with albinism facing stigma and health challenges, and vulnerable families who feel forgotten.
Mashauri Social Center was born out of a simple belief: no one should be left behind because of poverty, circumstance, or stigma. Over the years, we have supported teenage mothers with counseling and life skills, walked with widows as they rebuild their livelihoods, advocated for the economic empowerement, rights and dignity of people living with albinism, and offered psychosocial support to vulnerable individuals in our community.
However, today I share this story with a heavy but hopeful heart.
Several of our programs have stalled due to lack of funding. Activities that once brought hope—mentorship sessions, community outreaches, support groups, and empowerment trainings—are currently on hold. The needs in Bungoma County continue to grow, yet our resources are limited.
